Converting Energy to Revenue
This powerful energy source is emotional. Literally.
1679 was the year that French physicist Denis Papin invented the first pressure cooker, and in doing so he set the scene for converting thermal energy to mechanical energy. If only he could imagine what he had started. Or perhaps he did.
I guess we’ll never know.
The conversion of one form of energy to another, has always powered human progress. Fire, thermal, nuclear, solar, wind, natural gas, coal, and so on. The creation and deployment of energy is central to our history, certainly from a societal and industrial perspective.
It brings out the worst in us as well. We, the ravenous human race, desperate to consume and to expand and to dominate. If we find an important energy source, we’ll steal it, and go to war over it. History tells us so.
Well, I propose there is another one, as powerful as any. But there is no need for conflict — it is free to all.
The Power of Emotional Energy
Now, I don’t mean to sound over the top, but I propose that if you could truly harness emotional energy, we could do all of the following things:
- End world hunger
- End (even reverse) climate change
